The 2020 Virtual Amistad Caribbean Arts Camp will be conducted weekdays online from July 13 to July 31. There will be 5 hours of daily engagement including:
live lessons in AfroCaribbean music, art and dance
Instructional videos in music, art, dance & cultural history
Performance videos representing AfroCaribbean repertoire & genres
Independent learning for the student using the materials given, & technique practice.
Students will have daily contact with staff instructors and fellow camper participants and will also be making videos to send into the instructors. All camp participants will gain experience on their instruments, learn AfroCaribbean dances and participate in an art project. The Amistad program will provide all resources necessary for participation in the program.
Online applications and detailed schedule info for the 2020 Virtual Amistad Caribbean Arts Camp will be posted here by May 18, 2020. We will have positions available for 20 full scholarships targeted towards Middle School and High School members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Ohio and Akron.
All applications must be received by June 5, 2020 and final announcement of camp participants will be announced by June 12, 2020. As we only have room for 20 participants this year, interested students are encouraged to submit their applications as soon as possible.
